The girls know how to rock-et!

It was a bit rainy but they gave us ponchos to help keep us dry.  The rocket was super huge!  I didn't realize just how big these things are.

My daughter has the eww giggle face.  We found out that astronauts reuse their urine and drink it again after a filtration process.  She now knows she does not want to be an astronaut but she thinks they are still pretty cool.
This piece of a star weights about 1400 pound alone.  You definitely don't want this falling anywhere near you when it hits!  This was an awesome trip and the girls learned a TON about astronauts and space.

Sleeping under the stars at NASA

We got to sleep in one of the coolest rooms.  The room with all of the stars!  The floor is a bit hard on the back but the girls loved it!  The staff did some experiments like making astronaut snot and playing with electricity.  The girls passed out all of their swaps.  We seemed to be the only troop that made swaps so our girls didn't get any in return.  How do you go on an adventure like this and NOT bring swaps!?  The girls were still happy to hand theirs out.  The staff were even wanting their cool swaps.  The pictures below were our view.  It was nice to nod off to sleep watching the stars twinkle.

NASA Swaps!

Our girls decided to pick a camp out at NASA to spend our cookie money on.  We are just days away and the girls are very excited!  I spoke with my Leader briefly about swaps.  I suggested a Play Doh Galaxy swap because it looked SUPER cool and fairly cheap.  She went with a different swap idea but I still had the biggest urge to try this one.  My daughter and I made our own Galaxy swaps, and I think they turned out just how I thought.... SUPER COOL!
but I will tell you how here too.

Need:
2 cups all purpose Flour
2 cups of water
Black and Blue food coloring
1 Tbsp of cooking oil (I used coconut oil)
1 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
1 cup Salt

Instructions
Put the black and blue food coloring in the 2 cups of water until you have a dark rich color.  I put more black than blue.  Pour it in a pan and put heat on medium.  Add the cooking oil to the mix. (if using coconut oil allow the oil to melt)
Meanwhile Mix the Flour, Cream of Tartar and Salt in a bowl.  When the mix has warmed up(and the coconut oil has dissolved) add the dry ingredients to the pan of liquids.  I used a whisk to get mixed together fast, but you will soon need a spoon as the ingredients form and get thicker.  Once the mix is a good play doh consistency remove from the heat and plop the mix on some wax paper.  Once it is cool enough kneed the doh until everything is for sure mixed.

And just like that you have play doh.
Now for the fun.  You and your scouts can now mix all sorts of glitter to make a galaxy.  I recommend fine glitter as well as bigger chunky glitter.  Martha Stewart has a glitter out there that is star shapped that I HIGHLY recommend for your galaxy.  I then had a bout a 1 or 1 1/2 inch star cookie cutter that we cut out star shapes in the galaxy to put in baggies.(I used jewelry baggies found at Hobby Lobby)  My daughter can not wait to swap these!

Introduction

Well here it is.... the end of my first year being a Brownie Co-Leader in Girl Scouts.  I am not sure why I didn't think to put a blog out until now!!  Girl Scouts are ending for the season but I will have the summer to catch my blog up.  It has been an interesting year and I have met so many new faces.
